Meme 2009 Art Summary

Yes, I decided to do this I found it to be quite interesting when I saw a bunch of others on my watch list had done it. Credit goes to for the meme which you can find here: [link]

January- I was slowly beginning to fall into an art slump, but I think I did okay on this commissioned piece for It's her as an anime character. You can see the full image here: [link]

February- I actually didn't do any art because I was in a massive slump that whole month, but I did do a few pieces in March, this one in particular on March 1st, so since the date is so close to Feb, I figured I'd compensate for that month and put this piece up for Feb. March- I experimented with the eyes some, wanting to give them the more full crimson affect and practiced a bit more with the skin shading a highlighting, but not too much of a difference really. I also played with some blood spattering affects.You can see the full image here: [link]

April- I decided to do some traditional cell-shading since it had been so very long since I'd cell shaded tbh. I really don't think it turned out half bad! This was an Easter picture for a dear friend. You can see the full image here: [link]

May- I tried to go for something a bit more textured here. I wanted to give the skin more texture as well as the clothes. I don't know if it really worked, but I sure tried. You can see the full image here: [link]

June- Ah, another very rough month. I was having a hard time in my real life personally, was falling into a slump, doubting myself tbh and was quite a mess, so my art wasn't all that great this month...You can see the full image here: [link]

July- Ummm I actually didn't do anything this month as this was probably the worst month in my entire life, so I'm gonna scatter some pieces to compensate. I'm going to put up an August piece for this month. I was just trying to get back into the swing of things then. Be gentle. You can see the full image here: [link]

August- I was just getting back into the swing of things. I've put a Sept piece up to compensate for August's since I went a whole month without doing anything and it took almost another month in between to work on anything. I went for chibi here and tried working more on realistic hair and more skin texture. You can see the full image here: [link]

September- I did A LOT of art in this month. I think I got kicked into serious art mode at this point, but my favourite piece in particular is the one I did of Kyelinn. With this one, I worked more with skin and clothing textures, denim in particular, so I'm quite pleased how this one turned out. You can see the full image here: [link]

October- Fangirl mode! lol The new Inuyasha anime came out this month (I think?) and I decided to draw my favourite character, Kikyo! This one I decided to go ahead and cell-shade since I hadn't cell-shaded in ages. I quite enjoy this method of shading. It's kinda fast and it's really fun to try and make your images look anime-like. You can see the full image here: [link]

November- I practiced a new art style this month! I wanted to try drawing a new face style and I really should practice with it more, tbh <.< but I've been neglecting it and been lazy haha. I guess I'm just comfortable with the style I have now, but I really should get braver and broaden my horizons I suppose. I used Kyelinn with this one. You can see the full image here: [link]

December- Ahhh this piece nearly KILLED me! xD It had 9 characters in it, not to much all the Christmas decorations and detailing I did. It took me 5 days to complete the piece, but I went with the cell-shading again on this one and decided to get a little bolder and add a bit more darker shading bits and more colors. I had fun with it, but I was ready to stab it and pretty much sick of it by the time I was done! You can see the full image here: [link]

Well, all in all I don't really know if I have improved or not this year. I didn't draw as much as I would have liked this year, tbh. I had a very very tough year. I lost a lot of things, some people I loved in my life, some things that had happened last year kinda stuck with me and I was doubting myself, trashing on myself a lot and it was just...ugh. I won't go into details. Those of you who do know, probably know what I'm on about. xD So yeah, roll on 2010! Let's hope this is a better year for me in art and in general as my mood and current state of mind genuinely reflects my focus and the quality of my work. Anyway, thanks though to everybody for the constant support. I know I've had a person here just recently tell me how much I suck ass and I know there's room for improvement, but for such a shitty year, I didn't do TOO bad, I suppose. I know I can get better. I just need to work on it.
